Meeting Minutes May 13, 2019

Attended: Joseph Fudale, Louise Reed, Mark Winrod, Paula Winrod, Karen Gingrich, Matthew Witmer, David Drogell, Linda Drogell, Susan Filak, Ron Gingrich, Nicole Benko, Kent Davis

Meeting called to order: 1901

Meeting Minutes from April 8, 2019:

  • No corrections or additions to minutes
  • Motion to approve by Karen Gingrich, second by Nicole Benko. Motion carried

Financial Report: Current balance $25,622.31

  • Need to add DJ Kish to CMA accounts
  • Pepsi bill balance is “0”
  • A few items still not processed – moving to a new system that will be more real-time and eliminate need for “messing with receipts”; will be able to scan and email receipts directly to QuickBooks
  • Filed a tax extension to November
  • Motion to approve report by Paula Winrod, second by Matt Witmer. Motion carried

Music Director Report:

  • Middle School 8th Grade band earned a Superior rating and placed first in their division and best overall at the Sandusky festival
  • Middle School 8th Grade choir earned an excellent rating and placed third in their division
  • Professor from Baldwin Wallace College came and worked with the middle school bands and was well received by students
  • Freshman/Rookie band meeting was well attended with approx 25-30 incoming marching band members
  • Upcoming is the Commencement band for graduation
  • 2019 Season show revealed to be “Moon shot” which is a space themed show

Fundraisers:

  • Boyert’s vouchers sent home with students

Old Business:

  • Seville Yard sale is June 14 &15 – volunteers needed! Will need 3 adults and 3 kids per session; sign up will be on Charms
  • Upcoming Memorial Day parades for middle and high school bands – 8th grade will be marching at Lodi – will need a band parent for coolers, percussion, and sousa’s; high school will be marching at Westfield and Seville with a break for lunch
  • Medina Fair – a policy on volunteers will be drafted and once approved, posted on the Charms website
  • Oil bath for truck and trailer – plan to do closer to August

New Business:

  • Will be setting dates for prop building
  • Need to find alternative place for band shed and possibly add additional shelves – deferred to next meeting
  • Repairing grass outside band room door – reoccurring issue – deferred to next meeting
  • Recruiting people to help with upcoming band season – will have list of band participants after May 22.  Clarified that Culinary Crew DOES NOT have to have a fingerprint background check.
  • A date will be set for Cavalcade planning meeting – deferred to next meeting
