Meeting called to order: 1905

Meeting Minutes for July 13, 2020

  • Correction – add Mark Glatzer to attendance; correct date of minutes to July 13, 2020
  • Motion to approve Karen Gingrich; seconded Matthew Strehle; motion carried

Financial Report: 

  • Reviewed finance report: motion to approve Paula Winrod, seconded Matt Strehle; motion carried
  • No funds to be spent during this time due to uncertainty of fund raising

Music Director Report:

  • Officially wrapping up band camp this week. Next week schedule will be Monday thru Thursday 1500-1700
  • Student will need to wear masks when not actively playing instrument; maintain social distance whenever possible. Continue to follow the recommendations of MCHD, Colorado study, ODH to minimize risk.
  • First football game is next week – many unknowns regarding procedures; first home game in two weeks
  • Adult sibling and parent of band student tested +COVID – one student and friend are currently quarantined; another student self reported symptoms, quarantined, -COVD
  • Pay to play must be done via online payment system
  • Will need to replicate instrument mask covers for middle school, wind ensemble and concert band
  • Keeping expenses low; will need to pay for second half of drill, uniform cleaning
  • Picture day is next Wednesday – individual head shots; collage will be created for “group” photo
  • HS bands – will report to gymnasium and grouped for class as space allows
  • MS bands will be practicing in gymnasium with choir; teach theory concepts together, work on musical pieces together

Fundraisers:

    • Marching Band trip 2021 – cancelled for January; possibly reschedule for spring break or end of school year
  • Cheese and sausage fundraiser started; forms due on September 8
  • Band swag store set up by Jennifer Bryant – t-shirts, signs, drinkware; fund raising time frame extended until 9/4
  • Medina County Fair – cancelled; deposit will rollover until next year; all ticket money refunded; able to return all food stuffs except peanuts which have been sold to various interested parties
  • Band auction on hold – TLC is suspending all rentals; move auction to spring tentatively

Old Business:

  • Need volunteers for the Medina County Fair – please sign up in Charms
  •  

New Business:

  • School start up task force – buildings are all set up for social distancing; will need to wear masks at all times; no lockers; sanitizing stations set up
  • HS will not see teachers every day/all day
  • BOE approved proposals from each school (CES, CMS, CHS)
