Meeting called to order: 1905

Meeting Minutes for March 8, 2021

  • No corrections or additions to either minutes
  • Motion to approve Andrew Winter; seconded Tina Bundy; motion carried

Financial Report: 

  • Reviewed finance report: motion to approve Carmen Ethington, seconded Jennifer Bryant; motion carried
  • Budget presented to reflect projected expenses CMA to cover for 2021-2022 – might need to tweak

Music Director Report:

  • 6th and 7th grade concert held and went well; hope to have another one in May
  • Spring musical went well- sellout crowd with minimal capacity
  • Memorial Day Parades – Lodi planned for 0900; Westfield planned for 1100; Seville undecided. If all three will be held, students will be able to pick 2 out of 3; will only be high school marchers
  • 2021 Commencement – planning on 3 ceremonies (approx. 70 kids each) at 1400, 1600, 1800. Will have canned pomp/circumstance and canned exit. Senior choir and wind ensemble will prerecord a musical piece to be played during the ceremonies. 
  • Planning in person rookie parent meeting at end of year. Will include incoming freshman and sophomore class since unable to have one last year. 
  • High school concert will be Thursday, May 6
  • August 4 is picture day -issue since during fair week and limited time for uniform fitting
  • Drumline and winter guard wrapping up

Fundraisers:

  • Marching Band Trip – The Universal Studios trip has been rescheduled to January 13-17, 2022. 
  • Planning to set up a Go Fund Me or PayPal account for donations- money would go straight to CMA
  • Boyert’s is not participating in any fundraisers this year
  • Pizza roll fundraiser might be an easy option over the summer (completely online)
  • CMA auction – will not be able to have at The Lafayette Church this year since they are not renting space at this time. Investigating other locations
  • Sausage/cheese fundraiser will be in fall and completely online. 

Old Business:

  • Band truck needs detailing and maintenance- waiting for quotes
  • Medina County Fair will have grandstand concessions this year. The fair is August 2 thru August 8, 2021. Fees paid last year rolled over to this year. Unsure what we will be able to sell for concessions as yet.
  • Cavalcade scheduled for September 11, 2021. Concession stand is under construction. Will need to relocate concessions; will depend on what is allowed to be sold. Considering preboxed meals for visiting bands. 
  • Background checks update – a few people will need to renew their BGC and volunteer status with CLS. Louise will contact involved individuals. 
  • Update on CMA bylaws to dissolve uniform account and requirement to transfer %10 of fundraising toward uniform purchases. Bylaws can be amended by a majority vote at the CMA general meeting of member present. Will vote next month so people have time to be informed of planned change.

New Business:

  • Trailer needs cleaned out, washed and rubbed out, and maintenance done before season start.
  • Construction update on CMS and CHS on Saturday, April 17 at 0900. Mr. Winter has been visiting other schools for ideas before meeting with architect on band wing.
