Meeting Minutes for September 20, 2021: Minutes reviewed; motion to approve Carmen Ethington; second Linda Drogell; motion carried

Financial Report:

  • Reviewed finance report: motion to approve Tina Bundy, seconded Jason Popiel; motion carried

Music Director’s report

  • Thank you to all parent volunteers who helped out at state competition. The band did super well with scoring.
  • Stadium Review will be on November 11, 2021; 1815 call time
  • Five CHS students sent to Malone University to participate in an honor band.
  • Winter concert for CHS and CMS bands will be on 12/15
  • OMEA competitions – decision still being made if will be live versus virtual
  • Planning a trip meeting with band students and chaperones in December.

Fundraisers:

  • Sausage/cheese fundraiser completed – total raised $4,222 with profit $1,688.80, mostly student profit which will be added to student Florida balances.
  • Dinner/Basket auction – November 13 at the Lafayette Methodist Church – still need volunteers
  • Final due date for Florida trip payments November 30, 2021. There are 76 attending.

Old Business:

  • Concession for fall drama play 11/3 thru 11/7 - will need volunteers

New Business:

  • Winter Basketball concessions will be starting in November; first game is November 16
  • Band season pros and cons – general consensus that volunteers worked well together to get the job done
  • Elections for January – Vice President and Secretary
  • Tyler Bird – submitted a budget proposal to CMA for indoor percussion 2021-2022 season; asking for CMA to “front” the money until participation fees can be collected. Group is planning to compete this season. Proposal was for $3470-4500, depending on participation, final pricing on uniforms, etc.. Motion to accept proposal Louise Reed; second Carmen Ethington; motion carried. Will provide an update on final numbers at future meeting.
  • Ashley Kent submitted a budget proposal for winter guard 2021-2022 season. Projected total was $1885.00. Requesting money be “fronted” until participation fees collected. Planning on 12 members. Timeline for payment provided with April being final fee collection. Discussion on fees proposed with concern over instructor fees by one member. Motion to approve by Louise Reed; second Paula Winrod; motion carried with one “nay” vote.
