  • Minutes from the January 2009 meeting were read by Donna Ditch. Motion to accept minutes, and minutes accepted by Paula Lindsey first, Sue Newport second.
  • Treasurer’s financial report - was read by Kathy Kindall. Motion to accept report, and report accepted by Joe Fetzer first, Lora Fetzer second.
  • C’s Update –
    • OMEA results from Saturday 2/7 – It was a good day for students
    • C. also suggests adding a special rider on your homeowner’s insurance for the instruments, as some of these instruments are quite valuable so you want to make sure you are covered.
    • Recapped upcoming events for the band- (See the Upcoming Events section below)
  • Swing Dance – Planned for March 7, 2009. Trying to get Lora Hudson to do first part of the show. Still working on finalizing.
  • Winter Guard
    • Attended two competitions and did extremely well at both of them
    • 3/7 Competition at Centerville-Kettering
    • 3/21 Competition at New Philadelphia
    • 3/28 Competition at Miamisburg
  • Upcoming events
    • Thursday 2/12 7:00pm - 9th grade and Jazz Band concert at Seville
    • Tuesday 2/17 6:00pm – 8:00pm - Honors Band practice at Highland
    • Thursday 2/19 1:00pm - Honors Band final rehearsal at Brunswick Performance Arts Center; kids will be excused from school and travel by bus to the rehearsal and concert.
    • Thursday 2/19 6:30pm - Honors Band performance at Brunswick Performance Arts Center
    • Tuesday 2/24 7:00pm – High School concert at CHS Gym
    • Thursday 2/26 – Vocal concert at Seville
    • Saturday 3/14 – OMEA full band contest at Copley
  • Fundraisers – Malley’s Fundraiser:
    • 2/25 – Start Malley’s Fundraiser
    • 3/17 – Malley’s orders need to be in by this date
    • 3/31 – Malley’s delivery at CHS (Tuesday)
    • Discussed possible incentives for the kids to encourage them to get more sales – Further discussions will be held on this.
  • Indoor concessions – Still need volunteers to work concessions or make sloppy joes for the remaining games. Contact Michelle Cox at 330-887-5440 to volunteer. Please also see the email previously sent with details of dates and what is needed.

 

 

New Business:

 

  • Additional fundraisers:
    • Wadsworth Buehler’s selling hot dogs –
      • Crystal James will submit three dates we wish to work. Buehler’s will choose who works what dates by a lottery system. Dates need to be in by 3/23.
      • Typically run 2 shifts. Stand runs Friday & Saturday during the day only.
      • Minimum age to help is 10 years old.
    • Rally in the Alley –
      • Chip Jenkins is emailing the person who organizes it to get more information.
      • This runs Friday nights during the summer
    • Gift Cents –
      • Info to Barb Vasil to look into it and how it should be handled and run.
    • OMEA pictures for those kids who participated on 2/7 will be taken Wednesday during activity period 2/11 for the Trading Post, and will include a thank you to Mr. Tisher for attending.
    • If you want to write an article for the paper, send it to Mr.C. by Monday 2/16 or Tuesday 2/17 for the Wednesday paper deadline. Michele Cox and Paula Lindsey will work on writing the article.
